A Thursday Thought

{Thank you, Mr. Wilde}

A little something to ponder on this sunny Thursday afternoon.
Happy almost-Friday!

Happy Heart Day!

{Pretty hearts on a line}
 ***************************
Happy Valentine’s Day! As Cupid’s arrows fly through the air and flowers and chocolates are delivered all around town, I figured I better suck it up and write a post about the holiday of love. Luckily, I found a few valentines that I got a kick out of on Pinterest. I am loving these retro designs!
{Blow a Fuse Valentine}

{Cagey Valentine}

My fav? Don’t blame me for being corny…

{Corny Valentine}

{Tweet Nothings Valentine}

And I had to laugh at these “sweet” sentiments…

{Moustache Valentine}

{Sandwich Valentine}

{You'll Do Valentine}
So who is my Valentine, you may ask?

Duh. No surprise here!

Rascal and I had a photo session and I attempted to recreate the Jason Wu cartoon kitty with his pretty red bow. It lasted for a few snaps, and then…

off it came. But, you gotta admit...

he is a handsome devil!

Jason Wu for Target

************************
I’ve gotta say, I love Target. Who wouldn’t? They have everything you need. And a ton of things I didn’t even know I needed. The best part about Target is finding that random accessory, or pair of shoes, or picture frame, or rug for my bathroom, or new brand of laundry detergent I didn’t even know existed. I always feel happy when I leave Target. The worst part about Target? I don’t think I can get out of there without spending a minimum of $100. Sure, I always come out with something darling and desired, but when I planned on running in and grabbing nail polish remover and Kleenex (or kitty food and Diet Coke…you know, whatever random items I need), dropping $100 on my darling and desired items sometimes can add up. Anyway…I digress.
One of the reasons I adore the superstore is the GO International promotion that features major league designers at pee-wee prices. (Yep, that was a baseball reference. Check me out.) As mentioned in a previous post, I have indulged in several of the affordable designs featured at Target. (I attempted to support Missoni, but holy moly, those items FLEW out of stores! I couldn’t even find the geometric print candles or weird printed storage boxes in the aisles.) Presently, I’m loving the looks from the current in-house designer, Jason Wu. The colors are bright and fresh for spring, the cuts of the dresses are flirty and fun, and I adore the girly floral prints he incorporated. (Shop the looks here.) But my fav thing about Mr. Wu’s clothes? That darling black cat, featured in his commercials and print campaign. How cute is that red bow tied around his neck? Simply charming.

{I think I need that mustard colored blouse. And the striped shift.}

{So ready for spring!}

Happy Monday

{Ohh, Mondays...}

The Not-so-good:
*It’s Monday. Sigh.
*It’s cold again. Double sigh.
*I have parent teacher conferences on Wednesday and Thursday night this week. For three and a half hours. Each night. Triple sigh.

The Good:
*The sun’s out.
*I put up my Valentine decorations in my classroom today. (Yes, I am a high school teacher. Yes, I like to put up decorations for the approved non-religious public school holidays. And yes, I think deep down, the kids get a kick out of it.)
*I have Friday OFF! Yippee for no school!

Hope everyone has a happy Monday!

February Blues?

{Adding to my warm weather anticipation? Anthropologie's new spring scarf campaign. Loving the rosy, floral-y pop of color!}

***************************

It’s officially the first day of February, which any Kansas native knows to be the worst month of the year. Sure, you get to celebrate happy times, such as Groundhog’s Day (what a holiday!) and the (ever-so-rapidly approaching) holiday of love that sappy romantics toast and singles try to ignore. Now, I don’t hate Cupid’s holiday. Anything that features curlicue hearts in shades of blush can’t be bad in my book. But more on that later…

So, back to why February is, for the most part, the least-liked month of the year. The weather…oh, the awful, awful weather. Typically, this secondary month finds me snuggled on the couch with warm, fuzzy socks, tucked in a blanket with steaming mugs of hot chocolate. Typically, the weather outside is oh-so-frightful, with snow, sleet, and slush covering the ground. Typically, by the time February finally rolls around, we Midwesterners have had to shovel our sidewalks and break out the snow boots many, many times. However…on this February 1, the sun is shining, the high today is 63 degrees, and (the kicker!) the weather has been beautiful ALL WEEK! What a great way to start out my least favorite time of year. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed and say our prayers to the weather gods that February passes quickly with more sun than snow, that our "Winter Blues" are replaced with smiles and 60-degree days, and Spring has an easy arrival.
